Meridian Therapies
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT is often the first introduction to Meridian Energy Therapies, as the approach is so simple and straightforward to learn and yet it is profoundly powerful in its effects. EFT has its genesis in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the belief that we all have an ‘energy body’ and that energy flows through this body along lines called ‘meridians’. Meridian points have been identified on the physical body, which, when stimulated, impact on the energy body and thus influence health. Acupuncture, acupressure and reflexology as well as other energy therapies are based on the energy concept.
Tapping, on or holding a sequence of acupuncture points, while tuning into a problem causes blocks and distress to melt away rapidly and gently. Fears and traumas, cravings and habits, anger and sadness, stress, pain and depression are just a small fraction of the problems that can be eased or alleviated. This accelerated process enables client and therapist to work rapidly through layers of decisions and beliefs, memories and emotions to treat the root cause of dysfunction.
The basic principle of energy based therapy is that every limiting thought, distressing feeling and memory is associated with a disturbance in our subtle energy system. When we are calm and relaxed, the flow of energy through the meridian system is also calm and steady. Emotional upsets of any kind (stress, anger, sadness, fear, disappointment, jealousy, and bitterness) affect the energy flow immediately, as both are intimately linked. We can restore the calm state of even flow by touching the meridian system while focussing the mind on a limiting belief, upsetting feeling or distressing memory. Once the meridian system has calmed, the mind and body cannot help but follow.
Try the following modified version of this self-help approach right now by following the process below. You will balance the flow of energy through a number of your body’s main meridians by touching the points. It helps to say out loud what life issue or feeling your wish to release as you go through the sequence. The process is simple and your will appreciate for yourself how profound its affects are. And you can use this technique at any time for emotional crisis management, and opening yourself to a ‘Freedom Works’ life.
